I am myself, Like no other, and there’s no one I’d rather be.
This is a short story I wrote one night, very late. I was thinking about my dad when I wrote it, and this is what I came up with.
This is a poem about my parents’ divorce. A very touchy subject, and it was hard for me to go through, but it has given me inspiration for some of my best writing.
Take a real good look at me,
Wonder, and judge, and assume,
Figuring me out isn’t that easy,
I have battle scars, and wounds.
Try and see right through me,
There is nothing I have to prove,
You don’t know who I am,
But I definitely do.
I am a sister, and a daughter,
A partner, and a friend,
I have a path I am following,
And only I choose where it ends.
I will get out of here,
I will stay on track,
And when I get where I am going,
There will be no looking back.
